ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Since 1978, Women's Health & Birth Care has been offering quality midwifery care including well-woman, family planning, nutritional counseling, including weight control, and breastfeeding counseling. Our specialty besides our freestanding home-like birth center focuses on birth in the home. Medical equipment which is present for birth in our birthing center such as oxygen, infant resuscitation equipment, IV's, antibiotics, the same drugs available in labor and delivery for hemorrhage, is all transported to the home for birth. A labor and delivery Registered Nurse is present to act as an assistant for the Nurse-Midwife.
Research shows that midwives are the safest birth attendants for most women, with lower infant and maternal mortality rates in the world.
Pat Jones has been a midwife for 25 years and a Certified Nurse-Midwife for 16 years and has attended over 1300 births. Her excellent statistics include a cesarean rate of 4-5%, infant mortality of less than 1%, prematurity rate of less than 1%.
