Gary Young, Avela Corporation

Gary Young is the founder, President and CEO of the Avela Corporation, a company that helps US companies source produces and services in China. Avela’s China operation began with design and production of point-of-purchase displays and has evolved into an extensive network in China for sourcing, manufacturing, and shipping a variety of products for American companies.

In 2002, Avela began working in China and its corporate focus also began to shift. Avela has a permanent China office in Shanghai and a satellite facility in Guangzhou.

Mr. Young’s experience extends from sourcing commodities and unique items to arranging state visits and factory tours for clients. He has initiated US level QC programs in Chinese factories, facilitated machine sales to China and arranged joint ventures with Chinese companies.

Mr. Young is past chairman of the Business Development Committee for the Houston West Camber of Commerce, a member of the Design Management Institute since 1996 and belongs to Vistage, an international CEO support organization, since 2001. He travels to China 4 to 5 times a year and offers business executives an opportunity to experience China through his exclusive trips to the Canton Fair, twice each year.
