Mayor Bill White has brought his long record of success in business, law, government and civic involvement to the task of making City Hall the most efficient and responsive in the country. Mayor White sees Houston as a city of great opportunity.

And he is committed to keeping it that way. Mayor White's priority remains improving Houstonians quality of life through emphasizing public safety; economic development and increasing jobs; relieving traffic problems; eliminating neighborhood blight; and addressing the challenges of air quality and adequate drainage.

As president and CEO of the WEDGE Group, White led the business to record performance. From 1993 to 1995, he served as Deputy U.S. Secretary of Energy. White was a partner with the law firm Susman Godfrey, where he handled complex business litigation. He also taught law at the University of Texas at Austin.

White graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University, which he attended on scholarships from the American Legion. He graduated from the University of Texas Law School with highest honors, and was elected editor-in-chief of its law review. He and his wife Andrea, a writer and civic leader, have three children, ages 16, 14 and 12.
